I work full-time and I am married with two amazing children. I was approached by the director, Syndi Sills, who is a former colleague and friend, about helping out with the pageant. I am so excited to be a part of the Illinois Miss Amazing Pageant. The pageant is going to be a wonderful night that will make these beautiful young women feel like the amazing women they are!!
Rising Star Coordinator
I'm a college student at St. Charles Comm College, majoring in Sports Management and Physical Theraphy. I also coach a competetive special needs cheer team and love working with special needs children. I will be choreographing the opening number for the pageant. I'm so excited to be a part of this ground breaking event! Good luck to all the contestants!
Miss Divisons Coordinator
I attend SIUE where I am a junior studying Speech Language Pathology and Audiology. I hope to graduate next spring and then attend SLU for my Masters. I am the secretary of the SIUE group New Horizons, which is a student led group for promoting awareness for those with disabilities. This is my first year helping with Miss Amazing and I am super excited to meet so many wonderful individuals.
I found out about the Miss Amazing Pageant after watching a video from the MO pageant online and told my friend, Brenda, we have to a part of this committee. Then we both met Syndi Sills and it has been "amazing" ever since. I am a mom of two boys Jimmy, 14 and Joey 12 and married to Jim Howe, a Colonel in the United State Air Force stationed at Scott Air Force Base. I am a full time volunteer who's mission is help my son with special needs live a happy and exciting life. I am the co-founder and secretary of a non-profit organization, www.ADAPT4Autism.org. ADAPT provides activities and camps during the summer and winter break for those children on the autism spectrum. I am a Special Olympics coach for Team Scott. I am the Recording Secretary for the Scott Officers' Spouses Club, and a Red Cross Volunteer with the Exceptional Family Member Program at Scott AFB twice a week assisting the director help make moving to the local area less stressful and have fun while they are here. I am always learning and looking for new ways that will help my sons Jimmy and Joey be successful in the community.
Margaret Hesse is a volunteer for Miss Amazing Illinois 2013. She is also a lawyer and partner with the law firm of Tueth Keeney Cooper Mohan & Jackstadt, P.C. and practices primarily in the area of education law. Margaret serves on the Board of Trustees of Ursuline Academy, volunteers with Peter and Paul Community Services, and enjoys spending her free time reading, running, knitting, and just hanging out with her family and friends. As a proud graduate of Ursuline Academy, Margaret tries to exemplify the motto of "Serviam," by giving back to her community. Margaret is looking forward to experiencing the inaugural Miss Amazing Illinois with all of you.
Teen Divisions Coordinator
Hello, my name is Hanna Beck and I am a junior at Edwardsville High School. I am the Teen Coordinator for the Miss Amazing Pageant and so excited to be working on this team! I am active in my school's drama club and enjoy being on stage along with other Thespians. I also am very active with the special education program at EHS. I spend time with them nearly every day and God has blessed me with their presence in my life. I plan on graduating and going to college to become an occupational therapist.
I am a senior in the Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology program at Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville, IL. I have been involved with helping children who have disabilities since I was 7. Throughout my experiences, I have seen the abilities of these individuals shine forth in their personalities. I am looking forward to celebrating and be a part of the Illinois Miss Amazing Pageant with the contestants. They deserve a pageant to show how remarkable they are. I truly feel this opportunity will help build these young women's self confidence, be able to make new friends and overall create a very positive experience. I am very passionate and committed to helping others in need. As a volunteer, I will help wherever needed to make this a spectacular event for all to enjoy!
Hair and Makeup Coordinator
I am a sales director with Mary Kay Cosmetics and have been building my business for 22 years and LoVE what I do! I've earn three free cars and qualifying for my fourth! Enjoy encouraging others to have successful businesses of their own. I am so excited to be working with Illinois Miss Amazing Pageant! This is extra close to my heart as my daughter, Stevie, will be a contestant. Having a special needs child makes me appreciate and better understand their uniqueness and the blessing they bring.
I am a student at Southwestern Illinois College in Belleville, IL. I'm pursuing a degree in Human Services and I'm currently an intern working with the Exceptional Family Member Program on Scott Air Force Base. The EFMP provides support for military families who have dependents with special needs. I'm also married with one beautiful baby girl. I am so honored to have the opportunity to be a part of the committee for Illinois Miss Amazing Pageant and am more than excited to see these amazing girls and ladies shine : )
Kelli's volunteer work with Miss Amazing Organization began over five years ago. Since that time she has assisted with pageants in four states including Nebraska, Missouri, Iowa and Illinois. She has experience in various capacities including registration, backstage supervision, participant coordinator, committee member, as well as, serving several years as a buddy.
Kelli is the proud mother of three children and a sixteen year cancer survivor. She has been a long time volunteer with the American Cancer Society and the Lymphoma Research Foundation. Kelli relocated to Southern Illinois from Nebraska approximately two years ago. Her background includes sales, marketing, management and teaching. Kelli holds a marketing degree from Arizona State University, as well as, over 30 hours towards a Master Degree in Business Administration.
I'm currently a Junior at Parkway Central High School. I love to volunteer in my spare time. Most of the volunteer work that I do deals with men & women who have special needs. I have worked with the Special Olympics & even had the opportunity to be the captain of a team last year. When I'm not volunteering, you can usually find me hanging out with my friends or family. I'm so excited to be a part of the Miss Amazing Pageant this year. I cannot wait to meet all of the contestants & their buddies!
Sara was introduced to the Miss Amazing Pageant by founder, Jordan Somer. Sara's passion and enthusiasm for the organization began after her first year of serving as a buddy five years ago. Since that time she has continued to volunteer with the organization where she has most recently moved behind the scenes assisting the directors of the Iowa and Missouri pageants. She is now serving as a committee member helping with participant registration and assisting with volunteers.
Sara is the 2013 Cahokia Conference Spelling Bee Champion, selected to perform with the IMEA 2012 District 6 Junior Chorus, treasurer of her school's Beta Club and volunteers with the "Best Buds" program working with disabled students each week. Sara also volunteers with the Joshua Collingsworth Foundation and has presented the "Josh the Otter" water safety program to children across Southern Illinois. Sara held past titles of Nebraska National American Miss Jr Pre-Teen and Nebraska ANTSO Pre-Teen.
